Overview

Rise is a professional development platform that helps young professionals build consistent growth habits. Most tools focus on goal-setting but fail to support the day-to-day behaviors needed to get there, creating a gap between intention and execution.

Rise closes that gap by combining goal tracking, guided reflection, and lightweight accountability into one system, surfacing patterns over time and breaking progress into steps that keep users moving forward.

Problem Space

Growing your career shouldn't feel like a second job

The gap I kept running into

As an early-career professional, I felt the pressure to grow quickly without clear systems to support it. Goals, habits, and progress were scattered across tools, making consistency hard to maintain.

The result: professional growth becomes reactive rather than intentional.

Solution

From scattered habits to one intentional system

How Rise guides growth

Rise is built around four connected moments: goal setting, habit tracking, connections and mentorship, and curated resources. Together these layers help early-career professionals build consistency, find guidance, and take ownership of their growth, all in one place.

Context

Motivation isn't the problem, structure is

Consistency is the real challenge

Many tools help users set goals, track tasks, or consume content, but they operate in isolation. Progress fragments across apps, making it hard to see how daily actions connect to long-term growth.

Research shows that without clear feedback or structure, momentum fades and professionals fall into cycles of starting and stopping.

User Interviews

Learning how early-career professionals manage growth

I interviewed 5 early-career professionals, ages 21–26, to understand how they organized their goals, habits, and professional development over time.

Across interviews, growth systems were consistently fragmented across notes, calendars, reminders, and mentorship platforms. Without a clear structure connecting these tools, it was difficult for users to maintain consistency or see how daily actions contributed to larger goals.

The core issue was not motivation, but the lack of a structured, connected system.

1.0 Affinity Map

Competitive Research

Where existing tools fall short

I analyzed habit tracking, productivity, and mentorship platforms to understand how professional growth is currently supported.

The review showed that existing tools address isolated needs, but do not connect habits, reflection, planning, and mentorship in one experience. As a result, users are left to manage growth across multiple disconnected systems.

The gap was not more features, but a more unified system.

2.0 Competitor Audit

What the research made clear

01

Growth needs a centralized system

Users want one place to manage habits, mentorship, and resources instead of juggling fragmented tools.

02

Reflection makes progress more meaningful

Reflection helps users connect daily actions to long-term goals, making growth feel more intentional.

03

Consistency depends on clarity and accountability

Simple, repeatable tools and outcome-driven mentorship help users stay engaged over time.

Reflection & Next Steps

Key takeaway

Rise reinforced that consistency is a design problem as much as a behavioral one. The most valuable shift was moving from "tracking progress" to "building momentum," which sharpened my approach to how structure, feedback, and connection work together to support long-term growth.

Paths for further development

Usability Testing

Conduct hi-fidelity usability testing to validate core flows and identify friction points before expanding the feature set.

Habit & Task Detail

Deepen the habit and task experience with subtasks, streaks, and richer progress feedback to reinforce daily consistency.

Content & Notes

Expand the notes detail page to support media, giving users a more flexible space to capture and reflect on their growth.

Mobile Design & New Flows

Adapt the experience for mobile and build out the event creation flow and profile page to complete the core product.
